Micronised creatine 200 mesh: what makes it different

“Micronised”, “200 mesh”, “99.99% purity”: these are the details that separate a basic creatine from an advanced one. We explain what each one means and why they make a difference in your everyday life.

What “micronised” means

Micronising means reducing the particle size of a powder through a mechanical process. The molecule stays exactly the same, creatine monohydrate, but spread over much finer particles.

The result is a smoother powder that disperses faster in liquid and is much easier to take every day.

What mesh is

Mesh measures how fine a powder is according to the sieve it can pass through: it indicates the number of threads per linear inch of the sieve. The higher the number, the finer the mesh and the smaller the particles.

MeshSieve opening
80 meshabout 180 microns
100 meshabout 150 microns
200 meshabout 75 microns

A 200 mesh creatine passes through a sieve with openings of about 75 microns, roughly the thickness of a fine hair. It is one of the finest particle sizes for creatine.

What you gain day to day

  • Mixes instantly: disperses in seconds in water, juice or a shake, with no need for a blender.
  • Smooth texture: no gritty feeling when you drink it.
  • More convenience, more consistency: and consistency is exactly what keeps your creatine stores full.

Creatine monohydrate dissolves at around 14 g per litre of water at room temperature, and more the warmer the liquid. A 250 ml glass is perfect for your 3 g dose.

Monohydrate: the reference form

Creatine monohydrate is the form used in the vast majority of efficacy and safety studies, and the one referred to by European regulation in its authorised claims. Scientific reviews regard it as the reference form against which all others are compared.

EU-authorised health claim

Creatine increases physical performance in successive bursts of short-term, high intensity exercise.

The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 3 g of creatine. Intended for adults performing high intensity exercise.

Purity: the other key figure

Particle size is about convenience; purity is about the quality of the raw material. Look for three things on the label:

  • A single ingredient: creatine monohydrate, nothing else.
  • Declared purity: the closer to 100%, the better. Ours is 99.99%.
  • Neutral flavour: no flavourings, sweeteners or colourings, so you can mix it with whatever you like.

How to prepare it

  1. Put one scoop (3 g) in a glass of water, juice or your shake.
  2. Stir for a few seconds.
  3. Drink it straight away. If you see a slight sediment at the end, it is pure creatine: add a little more liquid and finish it.

Tip: prepare it just before taking it. In liquid, and especially in acidic or hot drinks, creatine gradually converts into creatinine, so the ideal is to mix and drink.

Frequently asked questions

Is micronised creatine the same molecule?

Yes. It is creatine monohydrate, with the same proven efficacy. Micronisation reduces the particle size so it mixes better and is easier to take every day.

What does 200 mesh mean?

That the powder passes through a sieve of 200 threads per inch, with openings of about 75 microns. It is one of the finest particle sizes for creatine.

Why is there sometimes a little sediment?

Because creatine has limited solubility in cold water. That sediment is pure creatine: add a little more liquid or use lukewarm water and finish it.

Can I prepare it in advance?

Ideally, mix it and drink it straight away, especially if you mix it with juice or hot drinks.
